SuperSiv™ molecular sieve powder is a low cost, high quality micronised molecular sieve with a high moisture adsorption capacity, for use in a variety of moisture scavenging applications. Our molecular sieve powder has been specifically developed for applications in which even the smallest amount of moisture can be damaging.
SuperSiv™ molecular sieves powders are aluminosilicate zeolites with crystalline structures.SuperSiv™ 3A and 4A are “type A” zeolite structures and SuperSiv™ 10A (AKA 13X) is a “type X” zeolite structure. Both of these crystalline structures are formed from a network of silicon, aluminium and oxygen atoms which create empty spaces. The openings to these empty spaces or “pores” have defined dimensions specific to the molecular sieve type involved.
The voids in molecular sieve / zeolite powders can absorb not only water but also other substances as long as the diameter of their molecules is small enough to permit passage through pore openings. SuperSiv™ 3A adsorbs small molecules like water, whereas SuperSiv™ 4A can also adsorb larger molecules such as nitrogen and oxygen from the air. SuperSiv™ 10A is in a position to absorb even larger molecules such as the solvents xylene and toluene.
As a result of its pronounced polar character, water is preferentially and strongly adsorbed by SuperSiv™. Even at very low humidity levels, SuperSiv™ adsorbent powders act by removing moisture and can absorb more than 20% of its weight in water. This high adsorptive capacity distinguishes SuperSiv™ from other drying agents such as, calcium oxide or silica gels.
SuperSiv™ Powder is packed in 15kg foil bags and placed inside boxes for easy manual handling and processing, or 460kg sacks for automated bulk handling. We also mix this powder with castor oil to form molecular sieve paste, for ultra-convenient dispersion.
