SuperSiv™ is a form of molecular sieve, and is the desiccant of choice for the most demanding moisture-removal applications. This synthetically produced zeolite enables the selective adsorption of polar molecules to take place at low vapour pressures. SuperSiv™ will reduce relative humidities to zero and is therefore widely used in the pharmaceutical, electronic and chemical industries. It is available in several pore sizes and can be supplied in either loose bead or sachet form.

Why use SuperSiv™
instead of Silica Gel ?
SuperSiv™ is a desiccant just
like Silica Gel, but unlike Silica Gel it is far more effective at lower Relative
Humidities . Typically you should consider using SuperSiv™
in preference to silica gel products such as SuperDryPak™
at humidities less than 30%. You should definitely use SuperSiv™
at relative humidities lower than 5%, as Silica Gel will be ineffective.
Please note that in the 5-30% Humidity bracket, there will be a trade off between the advantage of SuperSiv™ with its rapid and aggressive uptake of moisture and SuperDryPak™ with its lower aggressiveness, but its higher total moisture capacity.
Typically Silica gel will adsorb at least 35% of its own weigh in moisture, whereas SuperSiv™ will adsorb a maximum of 22% of its own mass in moisture.
Ultimately which product you use will depend on a number of factors such as; how often you can afford to change the desiccant component and how much physical space there is in your product’s packaging. There is no right or wrong answer here, only the correct solution for your specific needs.
Please also note that SuperSiv™ should not be used in conjunction with fresh food products as its effect is far too aggressive, and will lead to excessive drying of your produce.
