SuperDryPakFood Contact is a ‘smart desiccant’ designed for the protection of fresh produce. It is ultra high performance and is designed for use in high humidity applications, but it will not aggressively dry-out fresh food. It is a synthetic silica gel with very high purity, exhibiting a large internal surface area and a higher adsorption capacity than normal silica gel.

Strictly speaking, it isn’t actually a desiccant, but rather an adsorbent, which becomes active just below the dewpoint at very high relative humidity levels. It has the unique ability to specifically adsorb only excess moisture which would otherwise condense inside a package. It is called a "smart desiccant" because of this ability to prevent condensation without drying out moisture-containing products.

SuperDryPakFood Contact is chemically inert, non-toxic, non-corrosive, and dimensionally stable. Even when saturated with water, it looks and feels perfectly dry. It is designed for use at high relative humidity (>80%). At 100% relative humidity (R.H.), it will adsorb over 90% of its own weight.

Recommended Applications:
For shipping frozen or chilled food which thaws in transit, or any fresh produce items that give off condensation and moisture in retail packs such as: lettuce, mushrooms, and strawberries, blueberries and bulk or small retail packs.
