Desiccant specialist Baltimore Innovations is launching a new range of adsorbent products this month: SUPAALUMINATM spheres. These Activated Alumina desiccants are commonly used by air-dryer manufacturers, and users of compressed air systems, for use in both heat-reactivated and heatless air drying equipment.

SUPAALUMINATM spheres are highly-adsorbent and possess an exceptionally large surface area; made up of very tiny pores, which trap the water molecules. They offer low attrition rates, and are resistant to both thermal shock and abrasion; which means that they will not shrink or disintegrate when they come into contact with water.

“The meticulous control of sphere crush strength and superb pricing makes SUPAALUMINATM highly attractive to our clients, and customer feedback has been extremely positive. They particularly like the uniformity of our sphere size; which prevents gas flow channeling and minimises pressure drops.” says Matthew Valentine, Sales Director, Baltimore Innovations Ltd.

Baltimore’s standard 3-5mm SUPAALUMINATM spheres are recommended for regenerative dryers, whereas the 5-7mm spheres are used as pre-bed material; to support large silica gel beds in desiccant air-dryers.

In addition to this primary role, SUPAALUMINATM can also be used as an adsorbent for virtually all gases and fluids and can be utilized in; water defluoridisation, instrument air drying, and adsorption of oil vapour from compressed air systems. Furthermore, it can also be used in conjunction with sulphur condensing catalysts for sulphur recovery units in petrochemical refineries, and for the removal of impurities from hydrogen peroxide purification.
